Rescue Stories
Animal rescue is at the heart of who we are — just as much now as it was thirty years ago when we set out.
Here are some of our heartwarming and incredible rescue and rehabilitation stories.

If everyone reading this webpage would make just a tiny donation, we would be able to rescue five or even ten times as many animals as we do right now.
Please, help us help more animals by donating the price of a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.
Thank you so much.

Champ’s Story
Champ was a stray dog on the streets of Bahrain.
The police had shot him and left him for dead.
With bullet wounds, maggot-infested injuries, tick fever and a starved, weak body condition, it’s the biggest surprise he’s still with us today.
On top of all this, local children threw rocks at him and eventually he collapsed.
He spent months at the vets, and will always suffer with some long-term issues due to the bullet fragments.
His rescuer is a very kind woman who got him to The Retreat.
Champ is now living happily ever after — all thanks to the rescuers who took him in.
